Patch perfect

Not only did It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown capture the joy of being a kid on Halloween, it gave you hope. Why? Because your costume could never be as bad as Chuck’s, and more importantly, you knew you weren’t getting no rocks 😂
It’s hard to believe the special marked the first time we’d see Lucy pull the football away from Charlie Brown on TV, let alone that it premiered nearly 60 years ago! You can learn more about the production behind the Halloween fave right here.
A waltz down memory lane never hurts ;)

Good morning Staker! Here’s what’s cookin’ today. Say yes to nuts for heart health, the Toronto Blue Jays are a win away from World Series win, and a pair of rock ‘n’ roll love birds are back on speaking terms ❤️❤️
Let’s get into it!

Life takes nuts

Tenor
A study published earlier this month in the Journal of Nutrition built on the body of evidence that eating nuts regularly is an effective way to lower the risk of dying of heart disease.
Nuts might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you’re thinking about nutrition.
“Although nuts are nutrient-dense foods rich in unsaturated fats, plant protein, fiber, and several vitamins and minerals, their high fat and calorie content has historically made people hesitant to include them regularly in their diets,” lead study author Montry Suprono, DDS, associate professor and director of the Center for Dental Research at Loma Linda University, told Health.
Suprono and team studied the nut consumption habits of 80,500 participants, analyzing tree nut consumption—almonds, cashews, walnuts, and mixed nuts—as well as overall nut consumption, which included peanuts and peanut butter.
Those who consumed the most nuts had a 14% lower risk of dying from CVD and a 19% lower risk of dying from IHD compared to those who consumed the least. The IHD death risk dropped 27% for those who ate the most tree nuts.

Colosseum concerts? Yes; Colosseum raves? No chance

Unsplash
Simone Quilici is the new director of the Archeological Park of the Colosseum, and his goal is to bring concerts to the hallowed grounds that once housed gladiators and emperors.
He shared his plans with an Italian newspaper in early October, and unsurprisingly, clout chasers on social media immediately began producing AI slop depicting electronic dance parties and raves inside the Colosseum, angering archeologists, Romans, and even fans of electronic dance music.
Quilici certainly wasn’t please either, and made sure to set the record straight quickly.
“The music must be carefully controlled. I mentioned certain artists — not by accident — who haven’t been ‘rock’ for some time, who play calm music and attract a calm audience, because the important thing is that it’s not a wild crowd,” Quilici, 55, said Friday in his first interview with foreign media since taking over on Oct. 20.
“I joked about rock in moderation — that’s what I meant, a more subdued kind of music. But it was reported the opposite of what I said.”
Few artists have been granted the honor of performing at the sacred ancient stadium, and Quilici intends to keep that list short and respectful of the grounds.

Postpone retirement, buy tickets to Game 6
Unsplash
If you’re looking to grab a ticket to Game 6 of the World Series at Toronto’s Rogers Centre tonight, the cheapest ticket available is going for $1,473 on SeatGeek. The general admission ticket will allow you to stand in the 200 level of the outfield with no assigned seat.
The same tickets are going for $2,291 on StubHub and $2,315 on Ticketmaster, though all of these prices will be in flux as supply and demand shift leading up to Jays starter Kevin Gausman’s first pitch at 8 p.m. ET.
If you’re wondering, the face value for GA tickets at the World Series was $345, and all four games were sold out within minutes.
If money isn’t a concern, feel free to treat yourself to a pair of seats four rows behind the Blue Jays dugout, for just $11,633 per ticket on Ticketmaster. If that’s not close enough for ya, head back over to StubHub and scoop up a seat in the front row behind the plate for only $112,953.
If the Dodgers can save their season and force a Game 7, the cheapest seat in the house tomorrow is listed at $2,307.

Stevie and Lindsey back on speaking terms

Tenor
To describe the relationship between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham over the last 50+ years as a rollercoaster ride would be the understatement of the century. The last time they were publicly on speaking terms was in 2018, before Stevie ended their working relationship on the spot over a dispute in which she deemed Lindsey’s behavior unacceptable.
It didn’t seem likely the two would ever work together again after Fleetwood Mac keyboardist Christine McVie passed away in 2022 and Nicks confirmed the band would never tour again.
However, both artists recently appeared for separate interviews on an episode of the Exploder podcast to discuss the reissue of Buckingham Nicks. While listeners assumed their choice to appear separately meant they were still not speaking to each other, Stevie nonchalantly confirmed they were.
"Lindsey and I started talking about it last night. This whole thing seems really like yesterday to us,” she said of their early days together before opening up about their chaotic romance that served as the inspiration for a long list of timeless hits, including Landslide, Silver Springs, Dreams, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, and so many more.
“Our relationship was up and down and up and down and up and down and difficult, but at the same time, fantastic,” she said. “And what we were doing was so fantastic, that it was worth putting up with the trials and tribulations of a relationship that’s difficult.”
